Boy, 17, Facing Charges After Car Surfing Accident
Injured Teen Reported In Critical Condition

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- The 17-year-old driver of a car from which another boy fell early Sunday faces felony charges in connection with an "car surfing" accident, according to police. An unidentified 17-year-old boy was critically injured after striking his head on the pavement of The Citadel mall parking lot in Colorado Springs. Police said the two were taking turns standing on the hood of the car while the other drove in circles when the one fell.
Lieutenant Skip Arms said the driver faces a felony vehicular assault charge, and the injured boy could also be charged. The teen who was arrested had fallen and hurt his wrist before taking over the wheel, Arms said.A Colorado Springs 17-year-old died two years ago after falling off the trunk of a moving car. Witnesses said he was car surfing. Two teenagers died in separate car-surfing accidents in Colorado the year before.
