Woman Convicted Of Starving Horse

Lovelace Found Guilty Of Aggravated Animal Cruelty

A Weld County woman was convicted Thursdaty morning of a felony charge of animal cruelty for starving her horse so that it was 350 pounds underweight.

Jacqueline Lovelace, 61, faces three years in prison for the felony charge of aggravated cruelty to animals. Despite efforts to save the horse named Mississippi, it died on July 24.

Lovelace was formally charged with a felony on Aug. 28.

Lovelace will be free on a $30,000 bond until her sentencing on July 26.

She must also arrange to have a third party care for the remaining 38 horses on her property as part of her bond stipulation, the district attorney's office said.
