Anheuser-Busch had been under fire for months from critics across the country and in Colorado who said the company marketed its new malt beverage Spykes to underage drinkers.The brewer has always denied the accusations.A 7NEWS investigation found teenagers who recognized the tiny, 2-ounce bottles and some who had even tasted them.
Spykes flavors include Spicy Lime, Hot Chocolate, Hot Melons and Spicy Mango.They contain 12 percent alcohol and are infused with caffeine, ginseng and guarana.The brewer has decided to stop making Spykes, but cited disappointing sales as the reason.The announcement came just one week after some 30 state attorneys general sent a letter expressing concerns about the company's promotion and sale of Spykes.
