Volunteer Firefighter Charged With Arson
Investigators: Suspect Set Fire While At Work

A volunteer firefighter from Jefferson County has been arrested on charges of arson and stealing fire equipment.
Anthoney Clyde Bennetts, 19 (pictured, left), is charged with setting a fire on his birthday while he was duty with the Fairmount Fire Department.
Investigators said the fire, at a nearby greenhouse, was set while Bennetts was away from the firehouse for several minutes.
A subsequent investigation found that Bennetts was allegedly involved in a number of thefts from both the Golden and the Fairmont Fire Departments, according to investigators.
Bennetts was arrested for investigation of 1st-degree arson 2nd-degree burglary, 1st-degree criminal trespass and felony theft.
