Man Arrested On Suspicion Of Attempted Murder

A woman was recovering Thursday after she was found lying on a highway in Byers, Colo.

The Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office said the woman had been assaulted and was lying on the roadway at 25 West Highway 40 when deputies found her. The 27-year-old woman was taken by Air Life helicopter to a local hospital. Her current condition is unknown.

The woman told investigators that Jeremy Daniel Umsted assaulted her. Umsted, 31, was arrested and faces charges of attempted first-degree murder, second-degree kidnapping and first-degree assault.

Umsted is being held on a $1 million bond. He will be formally charged in court on May 8.
