About four acres of Pike National Forest have been consumed by a Monday afternoon fire, which is continuing to creep and smolder, 7NEWS reported.
At the height of the fire, the flames were 3 to 6 feet high.
The site affected is the Manitou Experiment Forest Area, about nine miles north of Woodland Park.
No experiment plots or buildings are involved, fire officials said.
Officials told 7NEWS that the fire was caused by humans, although the exact cause is being investigated.
Conditions in the area are dry, way below the still way below the moisture level that is normal for this time of year, 7NEWS reported.
