FAIRPLAY, Colo. -- The superintendent of the Park County School District was fired Monday night, a week after allegedly getting into a fight with a bouncer at a Denver bar who suspected him of buying drugs.
The school board voted 6-1 to dismiss Ryan Thomas Robb, following a three-hour meeting at district headquarters in Fairplay.
The dismissal stems from incident last week at the Music Box Lounge in Denver. The bar manager said that he saw a man with another man passing money under the table and then saw the two go into the bathroom.
The bouncer followed the men into the bathroom and grabbed Robb when he saw him acting suspiciously. According to a police report, Robb punched and kicked the bouncer before being pinned to the floor by other bar patrons.
Police were called and booked Robb on investigation of disturbing the peace and misdemeanor assault. When police searched Robb they said they found he was not carrying drugs.
Robb is due to appear in Denver County Court on Feb. 21 to answer the charges.
He was on his way to a national education conference in San Diego when the incident occurred, according to the school board.
Robb declined comment after the meeting. He was hired by the school board last year.
The Park County School District is the real-life school system parodied in the popular TV series "South Park."
