Blagg Released From Hospital
Man Still A Suspect In Disappearances Of Wife, Daughter
POSTED: 9:14 a.m. MST February 13, 2002
Michael Blagg (pictured, left) was home Wednesday after his release from the hospital following a suicide attempt.
The Grand Junction, Colo., man left St. Mary's Hospital on Monday night after spending five days undergoing treatment as a result of the attempt.
His mother and sister were with him when he left the hospital, according to Mesa County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Janet Prell.
Blagg's suicide attempt came the morning after he underwent more than 10 hours of questioning at the sheriff's office about the theft of office equipment from his employer and about his missing wife and daughter.
Jennifer and Abby Blagg have not been seen since Nov. 13 when Blagg said he came home and discovered a large pool of blood in the master bedroom. The home showed no signs of forced entry and Jennifer's van was still in the garage.
It was during last week's questioning that Blagg learned from investigators he was a suspect in their disappearance.
According to authorities, Blagg admitted to the office thefts but said he didn't have anything to do with his wife's and daughter's disappearance.
Prell said that investigators are still following up on information that came out of their probe into the stolen equipment, and Blagg's suicide attempt. Officers executed a search warrant on Blagg's town house last week as part of their theft investigation and apparently obtained additional leads in the missing person's case.
"There is still quite a bit of work to be done," Prell said.
