DENVER -- A West High School teacher was re-arrested by Denver police after a second victim came forward with allegations of sex assault on a child, 7NEWS reported Friday.
Paul Lopez, 50 (pictured, left), was first arrested earlier this week after police said they concluded a seven-year investigaiton into sex assault allegations. He's been in jail since that arrest.
The latest victim was not a student at West High School, the TV station reported, and was believed to be younger than high school age.
Lopez faces charges of sexual assault on a child, sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust, and sexual assault on a child -- pattern of conduct.
Lopez was first arrested at his home Wednesday and was being held under $100,000 bond.
He was placed on administrative leave with pay pending an investigation, a Denver Public Schools representative said.
According to DPS, Lopez has worked in Denver Public Schools since 1978 primarily teaching
industrial education, including woods, metals, practical arts, integrated arts, and graphic arts.
He worked as a long-term substitute at George Washington High School (1978), and as a teacher at Manual High School (1979), Henry Middle School (1979, 1980), North High School (1980), Smiley Middle School (1981-1988), Cole Middle School (1989), Place Middle School (1990-2001), and West High School (2001).
