Woman Stabbed At Denver Library
Suspect Caught At Nearby Homeless Shelter

DENVER -- A 22-year-old woman was stabbed multiple times at the downtown Denver library Tuesday afternoon, 7NEWS reported.
The 22-year-old woman was rushed to Denver Health Medical Center where she was treated for multiple stab wounds, according to the TV station. She was listed in fair condition.
The alleged assailant, identified by police as Tommy Lee Young, 51, was caught after a chase. He was found at a homeless shelter located in the basement of the church on the 1300 block of Grant Street, 7NEWS Julie Hayden reported.The woman was stabbed in the second-floor children's library at about 1 p.m., 7NEWS reported. Police said the suspect approached her, put his hand over her mouth and held a knife to her throat.The victim attempted to fight off her attacker as he stabbed her multiple times, police said. Others in the library heard the victim's screams and approached the area where the attack was taking place. When others started to approach, the attacker attempted to flee.Police said library security officers chased the man as he ran from the library.The woman did not work at the library and no children were injured in the attack, which police are investigating.
