Police in Colorado Springs, Colo., have arrested a 26-year-old suspect in connection with a Dec. 26 rape in Monument Valley Park, thanks to a quilt that was left behind.
Investigators said they received tips about the identity of the rapist after releasing photographs of a quilt (pictured, left) that was used during the alleged rape.
The quilt carried a tag that said "Sandy" and "1996."
Police said that Milton Huares Romero-Camancho was named in an arrest warrant after they received several calls identifying the quilt.
Romero-Comancho was arrested Sunday on suspicion of sexual assault and second-degree kidnapping, Colorado Springs police Sgt. Mark DeVorss said in a news release.
On Dec. 26, a 23-year-old jogger was grabbed in the park by a man who approached her from behind. He taped her mouth shut and assaulted her behind the rock wall, police said.
Investigators found a quilt on the ground, which they said implied that the attack was planned. They released pictures of the quilt to the media on Friday.
Romero-Comancho was being held on $100,000 bond. Immigration officials planned to question him Monday about his status.
