Mom Arrested In 3-Year-Old Daughter's Death

AURORA -- An Aurora mother is being held on a $500,00 bond for investigation into the death of her 3-year-old girl.Early Saturday morning, Aurora Police and Fire Department paramedics responded to a home near South Lima Street and East Utah Place on a report that a child was not breathing.An hour after paramedics arrived and attempted to resuscitate the little girl, she was pronounced dead at the scene, said Detective Shannon Lucy with the Aurora police
Detectives from the Crimes Against Children Unit initiated an investigation that led to the arrest of the mother, 34-year-old Susie Ida Quartey, who is in custody at the Aurora City Jail on a $500,000 bond.Quartey was arrested for investigation of misdemeanor child abuse and will make her first court appearance on Tuesday.The autopsy results were inconclusive, detectives said. The cause of the girl's death is pending until toxicology and lab test results are in, which police said could take six to eight weeks.Aurora police are asking anyone with information to call 303-739-6113.
