Athletes from the USA Wrestling and Paralympic teams spent part of the day Tuesday in Berthoud with Nikko Landeros and Tyler Carron. Both teens lost their legs in an SUV crash Jan. 15.

"If you've got something you enjoy, get out there and do it, " said Jarrett Perry, a gold medalist in swimming. "There is no reason you can't."

The Olympians and Paralympians shared their stories of overcoming adversity and the role sports has played in their lives.

"I encourage you to use the skills you've learned in wrestling and go on," said Steve Fraser, head coach of the U.S. Greco Roman team. "You can do anything you want to do."

The athletes showed the teens their prosethetics and explained how they worked. Mark Scott with USA Wrestling, a double-leg amputee, told the boys they would gain confidence with their prosethics as they learn the balancing act.

Landeros said he is looking forward to his prosthetic.

"We got it casted but we haven't got it fitted yet, but I am excited to get in it and see how they feel."

Both teens said it was inspiring to see the Paralympians and they look forward to maybe one day being part of the team.
