FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- A jury on Monday found a former Roman Catholic priest guilty of sexual abuse of parishioners.Timothy Joseph Evans was found guilty on three counts of sexual abuse.He will be sentenced May 30 in Larimer County and faces either probation or prison time.
During the trial, two men testified that they were molested by Evans when he was a priest at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton.Monsignor Thomas Fryar, the priest in charge of the Catholic Church's Denver central offices, said he reported three incidents of alleged misconduct by Evans against minors between March 2003 and April 2004 to police.Evans' lawyer claimed the allegations are false and the result of anger.Next month, Evans will face similar charges in Jefferson County in a separate case.He was removed from parish ministry in 2002, and his priestly faculties were removed in 2003.
