New Questions Arise About Deadly Lakewood Crash

7NEWS Investigator John Ferrugia Finds Another Witness

UPDATED: 7:26 pm MDT March 21, 2007

A 16-year-old Lakewood girl is accused of driving drunk and causing the collision that killed 17-year old Samara Stricklen, but 7NEWS Investigator John Ferrugia discovered another witness who said 30 minutes before the crash, a different girl was behind the wheel.

That girl is 15 years old.

The witness told 7NEWS that the suspect in this case was in the back seat and intoxicated when he was dropped off at his home 30 minutes before the accident.

The witness could not say exactly who was driving at the time of the crash.

Late Tuesday, Lakewood police became aware of the witness, but they told 7NEWS they "have no doubt someone else may have been driving the SUV before the accident, but we have no doubt we have arrested the right person."

Lakewood police said the suspect "was driving at the time."

Charges in this case are expected to be filed next week.
