DENVER -- A massage table that former male escort Mike Jones said was used by evangelical pastor Ted Haggard has been pulled from the online auction site eBay.

The company sent Jones an e-mail that said the listing of the table violated its policy for charities.

Jones, who advertised the table as "where it all happened" said he believed the decision by eBay was prompted by organized complaints from a Delaware-based ministry called Transforming Congregations.

The ministry, on its Web site, had urged people to fax eBay about the listing. "If you contacted eBay to express your concerns or register a complaint, please contact them again and thank them for doing the right thing," said a message posted on the site.

Haggard, who founded the New Life mega-Church in Colorado Springs was removed from office after he admitted meeting Mike Jones a number of times. Jones, a masseuse, claims Haggard paid him for sex. Haggard also resigned his post as head of the National Association of Evangelicals.

Jones was auctioning the massage table for Project Angel Heart, which provides services to people with HIV/AIDS, cancer and other illnesses. Bids on the table reached $1,275 before it was taken off eBay. The auction was due to end March 18.

eBay spokesman Hani Durzy said the auction was removed only because the posting violated the company's policy on fundraising.

Durzy said items being sold for charity have to be put on eBay's platform called Giving Works.

Jones has not indicated what he planned to do next with the table.
