DENVER -- One thousand Denver machinists for United Airlines will vote Thursday on whether to strike. They will join 15,000 United machinists from across the country who are eligible to vote.
Two years of contract talks have reached a standstill and the machinists say they haven't had a raise in seven years, 7NEWS reported.
Federal mediators had ordered a 30-day cooling off period, but that ends later this month.
"With no offer from United on the table, our members feel a strike is their only option," said
Bob Amundsen, spokesman for the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, which represents the machinists.
The strike is set for Dec. 21, but a Presidential Emergency Board will probably delay the strike.
There will not be any interruption in service over the holidays.
7NEWS will have live report on the vote at 6 p.m.
