Bail Reduced For Teen Charged In Lafayette Slaying Case

A teenager charged with helping a friend try to dispose of the body of a Lafayette mother had his $500,000 bond lowered Tuesday.

A judge agreed to lower the bond for Jared Guy to $50,000.

Guy is one of three teens charged in connection with the slaying of Linda Damm, 52. The decaying remains of the single mother were found by Lafayette police on Feb. 28 in the back of her Subaru, which was parked in the garage of her home at 705 W. Brome Place.

Guy's lawyer filed a motion Monday that claimed the 18-year-old suffers from attention-deficit disorder and developmental brain problems which were caused by premature birth and poor care in an Indian orphanage, according to the report in Tuesday's editions of the Daily Camera.

Guy has been in the Boulder County Jail since his arrest at a high school dance on March 2. He faces charges of being an accessory to Damm's slaying and tampering with evidence.

Police accused Guy of trying to help dispose of Damm's body, first in a landfill and a second time by burying it in a cemetery near his high school.

The day after Damm's body was found, Guy was awarded the Metropolitan Mayors and Commissioners Youth Award by Boulder County commissioners for overcoming adversity and serving as an inspiration and role model. His lawyer says he is not a flight risk and had no previous criminal history prior to his arrest.

Bryan Grove, 17, faces charges of first-degree murder in the same case. He and Guy are close friends, according to police. Both came to the United States from orphanages in India.

Tess Damm, 15, faces charges of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder. She is Linda Damm's daughter and Grove's girlfriend. She and Grove were charged as adults last week.

A fourth teen, not yet charged, will be in court Friday. Police said that teen helped carry Damm's body to the car on the day she was killed.

A stipulation of Guy's lowered bond is that he have no contact with his co-defendants in the case.
