A 24-year-old woman accused of trying to drown her three children in a bathtub was arrested and faces attempted murder charges.

Denver police said they found Brenda Hernandez trying to drown her three kids in the bathtub before they were able to stop her.

They had been called to the home in the 3100 block of West Mexico Avenue after a family member contacted police for a welfare check Saturday afternoon.

Hernandez was taken into custody and remains at the Denver County Jail. She was charged Wednesday with three counts of attempted first-degree murder.

Her bond is set at $150,000. She is scheduled to appear in court Friday.
