Investigators Removed From Grand Junction Missing Case

Officers Turn House Over To Michael Blagg

POSTED: 9:10 a.m. MST November 30, 2001

The Mesa County Sheriff has scaled back the number of investigators on the Blagg case.

Jennifer and Abby Blagg

Jennifer Blagg and her daughter Abby (pictured, left) have been missing since mid-November when Michael Blagg reported his wife and daughter missing from their home.

The sheriff's office cut the number of investigators on the case from 16 to nine Thursday, after a series of sexual assault cases were reported in the county.

Meanwhile, the home (pictured, right) was turned back over to Michael Blagg Thursday after crime-scene detectives finished going over it once last time.

Blagg House

That's where Michael Blagg found a large pool of blood on the bed in the master bedroom when he came home from work on Nov. 13. Investigators said the amount of blood indicated the person it came from probably sustained a fatal wound.

The Colorado Bureau of Investigation hopes to have its blood analysis finished early next week on the blood so detectives can find out if it belonged to Jennifer Blagg or Abby Blagg or someone else.

Investigators are stumped by the evidence so far: no sign of forced entry, the blood on the bed, no other blood in the house, Jennifer's car still in the garage.

They've been busy interviewing friends, co-workers and members of the church the Blaggs attended. They also went through personal effects of the family, looking at mail, messages, and photographs the family accumulated.

Investigators said they have not ruled anyone out in the search for suspects.
