COMMERCE CITY, Colo. -- A meth lab exploded Wednesday afternoon, leading to the 65th bust of the year, drug enforcement officials said.
South Adams firefighters responded to a call about an explosion near 82nd and Brighton, and immediately recognized it as an exploded lab, officials said.
"They went in, they saw exactly what it was, they came out because of contamination issues. After they contained the fire and the scene, they decontaminated, decontaminated the prisoners that were in there, washed them down and hosed them off and cleaned them off, before they took them to jail," Lori Moriarty of the North Metro Drug Task Force said.
Kimberly Phippen, 27, and Michael Allen Patrick, 38, face charges of manufacturing methamphetamine, 7NEWS reported.
All the windows in the small row house were blown out in the explosion, authorities said.
