An 18-year-old girl from Parker was arrested Monday on first-degree murder charges in connection with a death investigation that happened in Douglas County, the Douglas County Sheriff's Office said.

The Gunnison County Times newspaper said numerous sources on the Western State College campus said the death in question is that of a fetus, though police have not confirmed this.

The Sheriff's Office said the death occurred in late 2006 but would not release further details.

The Gunnison Police Department said a search warrant conducted at a residence in Gunnison led to the arrest of 18-year-old Addie Kubisiak. The newspaper said the search warrant took place in Kubisiak's dorm room.

Kubisiak was booked on first-degree murder charges.

The Gunnison County Times said Kubisiak was a freshman living on campus at Western State College.

Reports that a murder had taken place on campus leaked causing panic among students, the newspaper reported. Western administrators issued a campus-wide email saying that the investigation did not involve safety issues for students, the newspaper said.
