Several state lawmakers wore their military uniforms to work Wednesday at the state Capitol, where their colleagues honored them and others for their service.

Wednesday was Military Appreciation Day at the Capitol.

"Today please shake the hand of someone who is serving our country and say thank you. And remember, we live in the land of the free because of the brave," said Sen. Brandon Schaffer, assistant majority leader.

Among those at the Capitol was the family of Navy SEAL Danny Dietz.

He was killed in action in what the military described as a counter-terrorism operation in Afghanistan in 2005. His family met with Gov. Bill Ritter before the ceremonies Wednesday morning.
