Denver Ethiopian Community Mourns Mother
Suspect Faces First-Degree Murder Charge

DENVER, Co -- Members of Denver’s Ethiopian community came together Saturday to mourn a mother of five children.Alganesh Meshesha was stabbed to death a week ago as she walked home from work near the area of Colfax and Ivy."She was very nice, very kind, and I hope everybody understands that," 12-year-old Samuel Kassey said of his mother.
The suspect, identified by Denver police as Shimondi Gabreselassie, faces a first-degree murder charge. Family members told 7NEWS Gabreselassie has been taken into custody in Los Angeles.A religious service for Meshesha is scheduled for Sunday.A fund has been set up at US Bank locations. Anyone wishing to make a donation should ask for the Alganesh Fund Relief.
