CLIFTON, Colo. -- A Mesa County sheriff's deputy had to shoot and kill a pit bull terrier Sunday because it wouldn't let go of its owner.
Larry Oliver, 55, and his son were arguing in the yard, according to the sheriff's office. The family's pit bull then attacked Oliver, biting him and then refusing to let go, according to sheriff's report of the incident.
Deputies were called to the home and found the dog still hanging onto Oliver's arm when they arrived. A deputy then shot the dog, killing him instantly.
Oliver was listed in fair condition at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction Sunday evening.
