Timothy Boham was apprehended at the border crossing in Lukeville, Ariz.

Suspect In Denver Slaying Captured At Mexican Border

Timony Boham Apprehended By Border Police

POSTED: 1:03 pm MST November 16, 2006

The prime suspect in an East Denver slaying was under arrest Thursday, the day after police said he was at large and should be considered armed and dangerous.

Timothy J. Boham was apprehended Thursday morning by U.S. Customs and Border Protection in Lukeville, Ariz., a popular border crossing to Mexico.

According to the CBP, officers working the pedestrian inspection area noticed a man loitering just outside the inspection facility on U.S. soil. Officers approached the man and identified themselves and said the man told them he was wanted on a murder warrant.

Boham was taken into custody and officers confirmed an active first-degree murder warrant that had been issued Wednesday by Denver police.

Denver police have named a suspect in the slaying of a 43-year-old man whose body was found in his East Denver home on Monday.

Boham is wanted in connection with the slaying of John Paul Kelso on Monday. A cleaning person found Kelso's body in his Congress Park home and notified police.

Police said it appeared the Boham and Kelso knew each other but didn't elaborate.

Denver police are currently making arrangements to have Boham returned to Colorado.

He is the second homicide suspect from Colorado to be apprehended by CBP officers working at Arizona border ports of entry this month.

On Nov. 4, CBP officers at the Nogales port of entry took Justin Austin, 27, into custody. Austin had approached the officers stating that he wanted to turn himself in because of a warrant for his arrest, but did not tell the officers what the warrant was for. The officers checked his name against the National Crime Information Center database and discovered a warrant for his arrest on charges of first-degree murder, out of the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office in Littleton, Colo.

The officers immediately took Austin into custody.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officers screen all people, vehicles, and goods entering the United States with a primary mission of anti-terrorism.
