Longmont police are looking for a man who attacked another man in his home and then later apologized, saying that he had the wrong house.

The victim was in his home in northeast Longmont Wednesday evening when he heard someone trying to break into his house. When he went to confront the person, he was beaten with a baseball bat, he said.

The attacker, described as white man in his 20s, then apologized, saying that he was at the wrong house and that he was looking for someone else.

The victim chased his attacker out of the house and they continued fighting in front of the home.

Suddenly a black man got out of a car and pointed what the victim believes to be a handgun at them. The black man said that they had the wrong house and told the victim to let the white man go. The victim complied and then ran back into his home and called 911.

They two attackers fled in an older-model Trans Am or Firebird with pop-up headlights, the victim said.

The victim said his attacker was clean-shaven, had spiked hair about 1 inch long on top and which was bleached blonde with darker, shorter sides. He was wearing at least two T-shirts, with the outer one dark, and two pair of long blue jean shorts, white socks and predominately white tennis shoes.

The black man had short hair, possibly a goatee and was wearing a white shirt and long dark pants, police said.

The attack at 11:30 p.m. so the victim couldn't clearly see how big or tall the second man was and couldn't provide a more accurate description.
