BURBANK, Calif. -- A United Airlines flight from Denver to Burbank landed safely Tuesday night after one of the flight attendants on board noticed a white powdery substance in an overhead bin.
Flight 1285 with 95 passengers on board was met at Burbank Airport by emergency crews when it landed at 9:13 p.m. A hazardous materials team examined the aircraft and passengers, who were not immediately allowed to disembark after arrival.
It's still not known what the substance was. However, authorities said that United employees acted quickly and followed established procedures.
In the wake of the several anthrax-related deaths and hoaxes, several airlines have banned condiments such as sugar from their flights.
