COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- A Colorado Springs police officer and a police dog were recovering after they each were shot late Tuesday in pursuit of an armed robbery suspect. Police said an unidentified SWAT team officer and a police dog named Bandit were storming a house in pursuit of William Gregg, 43, a suspect in an afternoon motel robbery. Authorities said Gregg was wanted on several felony warrants, including bank robbery. He was shot in the exchange of gunfire and suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Police said the officer was shot in the arm and was able to walk from the scene on his own. Bandit was taken to an emergency veterinary clinic for treatment. His condition was unknown but police said the injury was not believed to be life-threatening.
