One person has died and others were injured in two crashes in Boulder and Larimer Counties involving two vehicles and one motorcycle Friday afternoon, authorities said.

The wreck closed Highway 36 between Lyons and Estes Park for five hours, said Colorado State Patrol spokesman Trooper Josh Lewis. It finally reopened to traffic at 8 p.m.

Troopers on scene said a Honda Accord, traveling west on Highway 36, was involved in two accidents about 1 mile apart near the Boulder/Larimer County line. The Honda first weaved into oncoming eastbound traffic, causing a motorcycle to crash in Boulder County.

Then about a mile down the highway, witnesses said the Honda veered into oncoming traffic, hitting a Jeep Rubicon in Larimer County, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

The male driver of the Honda died at the scene.

Airtracker7's camera showed the smashed Honda on the roadway. The Jeep careened off the road, down a slope and end up lodged amid boulders with a twisted front wheel.

A female driver of the Jeep was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

An autopsy will be performed Saturday on the driver of the Honda to determine if any medical conditions were a factor in the crashes.
