If you want to ski in Colorado this winter, now is the time to buy your ski pass.

Long-time Coloradans know that Labor Day weekend is when the ski pass, clothes and gear sales have traditionally started. While Sports Authority has closed, meaning there is no SNIAGRAB (bargains spelled backwards) sale this year, the Ski Rex and Powder Daze sales are on.

TheSki Rex sale at Colorado Ski & Golf started September 2 and runs through September 18.

Ski Rex is promising discounts up to 75 percent off last season’s equipment and clothing and reduced prices on 2016-17 designs and models.

If you have a child who is skiing or snowboarding, Colorado Ski & Golf offers a trade-in program on gear. Buy used gear (starting at $99) or new gear (starting at $199) and come back during the season and trade up sizes, as your kids grow, at no charge. Bring the gear back next season and you'll get 50 percent off next year's purchases. Read more here.

Colorado Ski & Golf is selling a variety of season passes and 4 packs and 7 packs for Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone and Arapahoe Basin. See all the prices here.

Unrestricted four packs valid at Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone and Arapahoe Basin (and other Vail properties) are $399 for adults. While that seems pricey, lift tickets start at over $140 at the ticket windows, depending on when you want to ski.

The Powder Daze sale, from Christy Sports, started August 26 and ends September 6. The company is advertising up to 70 percent off gear and apparel.

Several ski resorts are selling discounted passes during the sale. If you only plan to ski a few days, the best deals are:

  • Copper Mountain: 4 packs for $169. Get a 5th day free if you buy at Powder Daze. Buy any 2016-17 adult season pass and get the same kids pass free.
  • Winter Park: 4 passes for $179. Get a 5th day free if you buy at Powder Daze. Buy any 2016-17 Adult Season Pass or Route 40 Pass and get the same kids pass free.
