Denver Art Museum free Saturday

Each year, the Denver Zoo, the Denver Art Museum, the Denver Botanic Gardens, the Denver Museum of Nature and Science and other local museums offer free admission on certain days. Here is the list for 2015.

The Denver Art Museum offers free general admission on the first Saturday of each month -- Jan. 3, Feb. 7, March 7, April 4, April 26 (Dia del Nino/Day of the Child), May 2, June 6, July 11 (because the museum was closed on July 4), August 1, Sept. 5, September 12 (Friendship Powwow), October 3, November 7 and December 5.

The Children's Museum of Denver offers free admission to everyone on the first Tuesday of each month from 4 to 8 p.m. thanks to Target. The Museum also offers free admission to seniors on the first Friday of every month.

Hudson Gardens now offers free admission to its gardens every day. There is a fee for special events and concerts.

Four Mile Historic Park will offer free general admission on the first Friday of each month, according to the Science and Cultural Facilities District's website, but please check with the park before you go.

Free admission days at the Denver Zoo, the Denver Museum of Nature & Science, the Molly Brown Museum, the Denver Firefighter Museum, the Clyfford Still Museum, theColorado Railroad Museum,the Denver Botanic Gardens and the Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield have ended for the year.

The free days are funded, in part, by the citizens of the metro area via the Science and Cultural Facilities District's 0.1% sales and use tax. Other free admission days are sponsored by Target.

While the Butterfly Pavilion doesn't offer free admission days, it does off $5 admission days. In 2015, the $5 days have ended, but the Butterfly Pavilion has a $1 off coupon on its website.

If you have a Bank of America or Merrill Lynch credit card or debit card, you can visit museums across the country for free on the first full weekend of the month. In Colorado, the History Colorado Museum participates in this program.
