Veterans Day is Thursday, Nov. 11 and many businesses are offering free meals and other deals for veterans.

Veterans and active duty military members eat free at Applebee's on Nov. 11. You must show proof of military service. Veterans and active duty service people will have to choose items from a special, limited menu.

Chili's is offering veterans and active military duty personnel a free choice of one of six entrees on Nov. 11. Must show proof of military service.

C.B.& Potts is offering active duty military and veterans a buy one get one free deal at lunch and dinner. Buy and entree and two drinks and get one entree (up to $9.99) for free.

Boston's Gourmet Pizza in Highlands Ranch and Parker are offering military veterans a free individual-size, one-topping pizza from 5 to 7 p.m. on Nov. 11.

Outback Steakhouse is offering veterans and active duty service members a free blooming onion appetizer and beverage on Nov. 11.

Many Subway restaurants will give veterans and active duty military a free six inch sub on Nov. 11. However, Subway's are individually owned, so check with your local Subway to see if they are offering a special for veterans.

McCormick & Schmick's is offering a special dinner for veterans BEFORE Veterans Day. They're offering free entrees from a special menu to veterans on Sunday, Nov. 7. Veterans will need proof of service and reservations are recommended.

Here's a neat idea. Take advantage of the specials on Nov.11 and on Monday, Nov. 15, eat free at Golden Corral. The free military thank you dinner runs from 5 to 9 p.m.

Uno's Chicago Grill is offering a free entree or individual pizza to veterans on Nov. 11 with a purchase of an entree or pizza of equal or greater value. Offer good for all military for veterans and active duty military. ID or proof of service required: Show up in uniform (if your service permits), provide military ID, show a picture of yourself in uniform, or have other ID showing proof of service. Uno's has one location in Denver.

Grease Monkey locations in Longmont and Firestone are offering free oil changes to all veterans and their spouses from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Nov. 11. Must show proof of service.

Waterway Gas & Wash is offering veterans a free car wash on Nov. 11 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Veterans also get a 10 cent discount on gas.

Dollar General is offering a 10 percent discount to veterans, active duty military, National Guard and Reserve, and their immediate families on Nov. 11.

Pro Cuts in Lakewood and Littleton are offering free haircuts to veterans on Nov. 11. In an e-mail, Steve, the owner, told me, "ProCuts wants to say ‘Thank You’ to our veterans." You will need proof of current or past service for the free haircut.

Brides Across America is offering free wedding dresses to qualified military brides on Nov. 11 in Lakewood. Check out their website for more information.

Sam's Clubs will once again help veterans on Veterans Day by giving away 36,000 Hugo canes. Canes will be available Nov. 10-12 to U.S. military veterans in need of mobility assistance.

Admission to our National Parks is free for everyone on Nov. 11.
