It's time for flu shots. Signs are already up at my local pharmacy where the pharmacist is actually giving shots this year.So where can you find a deal on a flu shot? Here are some options: Rocky Mountain Urgent Care has two options.1. Free flu shots in exchange for a a non-perishable food donation for Food Bank of the Rockies or Community Food Share. The first 100 people in line get their flu shot for free. The last day for free shots is Saturday, October 3 in Boulder. For details, visit the clinic's Web site. After the first 100 people at each clinic, the cost for a vaccination is $15.2. If you don't want to take your chances or if you don't live near one of those four locations, you can get a $15 flu shot anytime at all of the 9 Rocky Mountain Urgent care locations. I'm told there is no other co-pay, just $15. No appointment needed. If you have Medicare Part B, you can get a free flu shot at Safeway. Others pay $28.Kaiser Permanente members can also get a free flu shot. All Denver/Boulder Kaiser Permanente Medical Offices will hold clinics Saturday, October 24, 2009 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Drive-through service available at select medical offices. Bike lane service available at Baseline medical offices only. Shots are also available at all Denver/Boulder Kaiser Permanente Medical Offices Monday through Friday, October 26 to November 6, 2009, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. And there's one more clinic on Saturday, November 7, 2009 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Arapahoe, East Denver, Lakewood, Rock Creek, and Westminster offices. For more details, visit Kaiser's Web site or call 303-344-7600.Look up your city's Web site and see if your city has a travel clinic, health clinic or immunization clinic. Call and ask how much it is charging for flu shots. In Broomfield, the public health clinic is giving flu shots for $15. Flu shots for children are just a donation of up to $14 and no child will be turned away if their parents can't pay. The American Lung Association has a Web site to help you find a flu shot clinic near you. The Colorado Health Dept. also has a Web site to find a flu shot clinic. But call the location before you go to find out how much they are charging.By the way, you may have heard Walgreens and CVS are giving away flu shots to the unemployed. CVS does not have any locations in Colorado. Walgreens has locations in Colorado, but to get a free flu shot, you have to find a place where the Walgreens Wellness Bus is visiting between September 17 and November 15, 2009. At the bus, the unemployed are given a voucher for a free flu shot. BUT the bus only visited Colorado in April, May, June and August. There are no dates for the bus to be in Colorado between September 17 and November 15. Check the dates, locations for the bus here. The normal price for flu shots at Walgreens is $24.99.If you've heard of a place giving free flu shots, let me know!
