DENVER - The sale of luxury homes in metro Denver, which gained steam in April, picked up serious momentum in May with 127 luxury homes sold in the month compared to 93 in April, according to a new report by Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage.
At the same time, the median sale price in May of $1,613,513 was a gain of $316,413 over April's median price of $1,297,100.
In April, Chris Mygatt, Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage president, said homes during that month sold at a much faster rate on average, and sellers received a higher percentage of their asking price on average.
Mygatt said that listings in the metro area in May are increasing and are helping boost sales in the upper end of the housing market. Unlike April, fewer potential buyers are staying on the sidelines.
