Genie recalls PowerMax, Genie Pro garage door openers due to fire risk from overheating

WASHINGTON, DC. - The Genie Company is recalling four models of its garage door openers due to a fire risk.

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the recall involves the Genie PowerMax, models 1200 and 1500, and the Genie Pro, models TriloG 1200 and 1500, screw drive garage door openers.

More than 30 serial numbers are included in the recalled units.

The company said it has received four reports of the control board overheating.

No injuries have been reported.

Consumers are urged to unplug the recalled garage door opener and to contact Genie at 800-488-9918 to receive a free repair kit.

The openers were sold at Canadian Tire, Carter Lumber, Lowes, Menards, The Home Depot and other retailers and distributors nationwide from August 2011 through October 2012.
