Walt Disney is adding Luke Skywalker and Darth Vadar to its large cast of characters.
George Lucas sold Lucasfilm to Disney for an astounding $4.1 billion dollars.
The deal will make Lucas a significant shareholder in Disney, which will pay for the film company with $2 billion cash and around 40 million shares of its stock.
Lucas said he's loved watching Star Wars passed from generation to generation. Now, he says, it's time to pass the company to a new generation of filmakers.
"I feel completely confident Disney will take care of the franchise I built," Lucas said. "We've got a plan for seven, eight and nine which is the end of the trilogy and other films also. So, we have a large group of ideas, characters, books and all kinds of things. We could go on making Star Wars for the next one-hundred-years."
Disney hopes to have the next Star Wars film in theaters by 2015.
