Chrysler says sales rise 10 percent

DETROIT - Chrysler says its U.S. sales rose 10 percent last month — its best October since 2007.
The company says the increase came despite superstorm Sandy, which washed out the final three sales days of the month on the East Coast.
Chrysler's results show that Americans continue to buy new cars and trucks at a strong pace. Chrysler predicts an annual sales rate of 14.7 million for the U.S. industry in October, making it one of the year's strongest months.
Auto sales ran at an annual rate of 14.3 million through September.
Chrysler was the first automaker to report sales on Thursday. The company says it sold 142,000 vehicles.
Sales were led by the Ram pickup, which was up 20 percent. Sales of the Dodge Caravan minivan rose 49 percent.
