Some Bolder Boulder runners were frustrated to find the Sports Authority coupon in their race packet is no good.
“They gave us one for 15 percent off, 10 percent off and another 15 percent off," said Stormy Griffith.
However, after Stormy and his wife spent an hour shopping for their three daughters they were surprised to find the coupons were not valid.
“We get up to the counter and the gals that are checking us out tell us they are not going to redeem these coupons here," said Griffith.
Griffith says the women at the counter told him they couldn’t take his coupons because the store is liquidating. Denver 7 tried to use the same coupons at a different Sports Authority store location and got the same response.
The fine print on the coupons does mention the coupons cannot be used on clearance items. Griffith says the company should have pulled the coupons despite its sponsorship of the race.
“You can't advertise something and not back it. They didn't even mark on their doors that they weren't honored," said Griffith.
