LIFE Magazine Returns

POSTED: 4:05 pm EDT September 22, 2004

Time Inc. is bringing back LIFE magazine in what the company said is its biggest magazine launch in history.

LIFE Magazine's Oct. 1 issue features actress Sarah Jessica Parker on the cover.

LIFE is being reintroduced to more than 12 million readers nationwide as a weekend magazine insert in more than 70 newspapers.

The Oct. 1 debut issue features actress Sarah Jessica Parker as its cover story.

"We wanted to create a magazine that people would feel as well as read," said managing editor Bill Shapiro. "LIFE is designed to help people connect: from the images that capture a world of emotions, to tips and ideas to help people make the time they spend with friends and family more special."

LIFE magazine was first published as a weekly in 1936.

It stopped publication in 1972, but returned as a monthly from 1978 to 2000.

The latest version of the magazine will feature the familiar red-and-white logo and photographs from the world's finest photographers.
