Shopping Could Get More Expensive At Park Meadows

RTD Tax Slated For Mall

POSTED: 2:16 pm MST January 20, 2004

You might have to pay more money, if you shop at Park Meadows in the future.

The Regional Transportation District is considering annexing the mall (pictured, left) into the district.

A public hearing will be held Feb. 10 to discuss the change. If approved, shoppers at Park Meadows would pay a 0.6 percent increase in sales tax to secure RTD service to the mall. That would add up to an extra $2 million for RTD to pay for light rail and bus services.

If approved, the tax wouldn't go into effect until July 1 and would raise the current tax from 4 percent to 4.6 percent.
