It's a website where you apply to host a house party for a company. During the party, you may get to show your guests a new TV show or try out new food or other products.

Some of the parties you can apply to host right now are:

Little Debbie Cloud Cake Break House Party. If you're selected to host the Little Debbie party, you get cloud cakes, napkins, note pads, coasters and magnetic photo frames.

Singer Sew Very Easy House Party. Here's something different. Invite your friends to this Singer party and you'll teach them how to sew! Hosts get complimentary use of a new Singer confidence stylist sewing machine, special offers and discounts for you and your guests from Viking Sewing Gallery and Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores, a complimentary copy of Ready, Set, Sew! DVD with projects from "The Martha Stewart Show" and lots of other goodies for you and your guests.

Green Works New To You House Party. If you're chosen to host this Green Works party, you'll get Green Works detergent, cleaning wipes, Nalgene reusable water bottle and more.

So how does it work? You fill out a sometimes lengthy questionnaire for the house party you want to throw. The companies want to know about you, your house, etc.. to make sure you're a good match.

If you're selected, you'll get a party pack days before the official party day. Then throw your party, take pictures and post the pictures on the House Party website.

Yes, I've actually done this. Last October, Xcel Energy asked for 1,000 people to throw a "going green" house party. I got weather stripping, a low-flow shower head, LED night light, lots of lightbulbs and brochures that I gave away to friends who came to the party.
