Denver Water Offers Rebates To Its Residential Customers

DENVER -- Here's an interesting idea, if you're a customer of Denver Water, you can get a rebate if you replace certain inefficient fixtures, devices and appliances with more efficient qualifying models.Right now, Denver Water is offering a $125 rebate if you replace your old, water-wasting toilet with a high-efficiency model that use as little as 1.28 gallons per flush. While most of my co-workers who've bought high-efficiency toilets have spent $150 to $350, a friend at Home Depot found qualifying toilets from $98 to $248.Not only do you get a rebate, you'll also save on your water bill.
Read more about it on Denver Water's Web site. There you'll also find rebates for certain clothes washers, rain sensors and other items. Make sure you read all the details carefully so you buy the right product to get a refund.Denver Water said toilets are a home’s biggest water-using device, accounting for nearly 25 percent of total indoor usage. Prior to 1994, toilets used 3.5 to 7 gallons per flush. Since 1994, federal law has required all newly manufactured toilets to use 1.6 gallons or less per flush.Even if you don't want to replace your toilet, Denver Water would like you to check your current toilets for leaks. What may seem to be a tiny leak can waste 100 to 250 gallons of water a day, which can make a big difference in a water bill. An easy way to check for toilet leaks is to squirt food coloring into the water tank. Don’t flush for 30 minutes and then check the water in the bowl. If it’s colored, there’s a leak.If you see a deal, e-mail me Debbie (Debbie@thedenverchannel.com).Get the latest deals by following me on Twitter @DebbiesDeals. And don't miss a Debbie's Deal!
