DENVER -- Each year in February, dentists across the country provide free oral health care services to thousands of low-income children.

It's called "Give Kids A Smile Day."

This year the event will be held on Friday, February 4, 2011. So far, more than 30 dentists in Colorado have signed up to participate.

The program isn't for families who have dental insurance, it's for families who are low-income and unable to afford dental care.

So how do you get an appointment?

Go to the Colorado Dental Association Web site. It explains how you can qualify and it has a list of the dentists who have appointments available. You pick a dentist and call the office directly for an appointment. Make sure you when you call that you say you're "calling to make an appointment for Give Kids a Smile Day." Many of the offices speak Spanish.

Some offices have dozens of appointments, others have just a few. Some officers are doing cleanings only, others are doing most extensive work. There are offices from Denver to Fort Collins, Sterling to Cortez.
