DENVER -- Woman's Day magazine this month has a list of Web sites to save you money. I don't personally endorse any of these Web sites, but they may help you.Mousesavers.com has a list of tips, tricks and secrets on how to get discounts for Disney World, Disneyland and the Disney resorts. It is not affiliated with Disney and gets a 1 million page views per month.AnnualCreditReport.com is the ONLY Web site where you can get free copies of your credit report each year. Other Web sites may promise you a free report, but they expect you to buy some other service. (Deb note: It's a good idea to check your credit report at least once a year for mistakes.)
USA.gov is the official information and services site for the U.S. Government. Just search by agency or topics like how to get grants, how to get financial aid, how to register to vote, health updates for flu information, etc.Zilok.com lets you rent any kind of goods for sale. Maybe you don't need your leaf blower this weekend?CouponClippers.com lets you choose the coupons you want and need. There are online coupons or have coupons sent to you. To get coupons mailed, expect a handling fee of a few cents per coupon, an adminstrative fee per order and postage. (Deb note: Personally, that seems like a lot of work, but it may be worth checking it out for your family.)I prefer Coupons.com. This is a Web site I actually use to find and print coupons I want to use.Paperbackswap.com lets you post books you're willing to swap. The books you receive are yours to keep for free, you just pay the postage to mail the books others want. Typically about $2.23 for a book under 1 pound. (Deb note: Personally, I prefer the used book store in my neighborhood where I get books for 50% off. If I donate books, I get 75% off, so paperbacks typically cost me $1.50-$2.00.)Mommysavers.com is a Web site Woman's Day likes for informational articles, e-books, and Web videos with money-saving tips on topics such as grocery shopping, decorating, family road trips, garage sales and clothes shopping.A few more tips from Woman's Day this month: Change your due dates. Most credit card companies, even banks will let you change your payment dates by a few days. If you get paid on the 1st and 15th, make sure your bills are due a few days later to allow for slow mailing times. When a sale product is out of stock, ask for a rain check. Some supermarkets and stores will accept competitor's coupons. Check with customer service to see if your store does. Before your shop your favorite mall, visit their Web site for information about events and promotions. Remember sale racks are often at the back of the store. Take a minute to browse there and you may save big dollars. End cap sales. Sometimes you'll find sales and special deals at the ends of the isles. But remember, sometimes these are just slow sellers or items about to expire, so make sure you compare the price with others in the store before you buy.If you see a deal, let me know!
