Have you ever wanted to see a play, musical or other show in Denver, but thought you couldn't afford it? Now there's a way to get half-price tickets.

VISIT DENVER, the Convention and Visitors Bureau, in conjunction with the Denver Office of Cultural Affairs (DOCA), have created the DENVER 2 for 1 TIX Web site.

Each Wednesday night, the Web site releases a list of events with half-price tickets for residents and visitors. The list typically includes up to eight offers for tickets to theater shows, museums, seasonal musical performances, and other ticketed events.

The best deal this week may be 2 for 1 tickets to Beauty and the Beast, presented by the Colorado Ballet at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House. Tickets are regularly: $33.00 - $129.00, but with this deal, you pay $16.50 - $64.50 for shows Friday, February 19, 2010 @ 7:30pm and Saturday, February 20, 2010 @ 2:00pm or 7:30pm.

Tickets are available by walk-up only. To redeem discount, visit the Ellie Caulkins Opera House box office up to 2 hours prior to showtime. Use the promo code: DENVER 2 for 1 TIX. To check availability of tickets, call 303-837-8888.

There are several tour offers this week. A behind-the-scenes tour of Boulder's top restaurants, a gourmet market tour and a walking tour of South Pearl Street in Denver.

Want more? There are 2 for 1 tickets to the Park Hill Brass show Friday night, several Comedy Works shows, Real African music at the Broomfield Auditorium and a performance of the Russian National Orchestra.

If you're like me and you're likely to forget to look at the Web site on Wednesday nights, then you can sign up for an e-mail alert from VISIT DENVER.

"Denver is a city that supports its arts and culture -- we've got world-class museums, the second largest performing arts complex in the country, and a community that has voted for 20 years to dedicate tax dollars toward support of the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District," said Erin Trapp, director of the Denver Office of Cultural Affairs. "This is a way to help small and large cultural organizations showcase their great offerings and special savings to a much larger audience."
