If you have kids, here's a way to teach them about freebies. Barnes & Noble is offering a free kids book this summer as part of their Summer Reading Program. What's the catch? Your child has to read 8 books to get the free one. Not a bad deal since you don't have to buy the 8 books at Barnes & Noble. Visit Barnes& Noble's Web site for details. The basic idea is your child reads any eight books of their own choosing and they fill out a summer reading journal. A parent signs the journal and the child can pick up a free paperback book, from a certain list of children's books, between May 26 and Sept. 7, 2009. Walmart is giving away a free ice cream treat like a Dibs sample bag on Saturday, May 30, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Visit Walmart's Web site and type in your zip code to make sure the offer is available at your local Walmart. Sam's Club is offering another one day free pass. Print the pass and it's good until June 7. The same Web site is also offering a Summer membership to Sam's Club for $15. The offer also expires June 7.
