Debbie's Deals: Exploring Colorado Discounts
Colorado tourism officials want you to explore your state this Summer.Free events start this Saturday (May 2) at the Governor's Mansion. That's where Gilpin County will celebrate 150 years of Colorado’s Gold Rush.Enjoy reenactments by Senators Teller and Chaffee, Annie Oakley and Buffalo Bill Cody, gold panning, a gem and mineral show and performances by the Peak to Peak Chorale and Central City Opera at the Governor's Residence is at 8th and Pennsylvania in Denver.
You can also get a free ride to Central City Saturday. Buses leave the Governor’s Residence Carriage House on 8th and Logan at 12 noon, 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. and return to the same location at 3 p.m., 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. Buses will drop visitors off at the Century Casino in Central City. The Black Hawk/Central City Convention and Visitor’s Bureau will offer complimentary coupons for $5 off lunch and the Gilpin County Historical Society will offer a special historic walking tour at 2 p.m. as well as insider tours of the Teller House and the Central City Opera house from 1-5 p.m. A shuttle is available to take guests one mile down the road to Black Hawk. To get you out exploring your backyard, Colorado.com is offering deals on attractions, recreation, lodging, dining, shopping and more.Under recreation, I found pages of coupons for rafting, a discount on bowling, deals for bike rentals, jet ski rentals, boat rides and 4-pack deals for the Colorado Rockies, Colorado Rapids and Denver Outlaws Lacrosse team.Under attractions, I found coupons for the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, Seven Falls, museums, the Denver Aquarium, theatres, the Colorado Symphony and much more.Under dining there are lunch specials, 20% off meals, free desserts, free appetizers, beer discounts and more.If you have some time off or even just a weekend to explore Colorado, it's worth your time to visit Colorado.com's Hot Deals site.If you see a deal, let me know!
