Deals From Cinnabon, Quaker, H&R Block, Denny's & More

I can't say it enough, I love getting things for free. After visiting a few dozen Web sites yesterday, I've found more than a half-dozen freebies to share.

Let's start with free treats. The first one is good for your wallet, but not your waistline. Mark your calender for Tax Day, April 15. That's when Cinnabon will be giving free bites from 5 to 8 p.m. The Web site doesn't say if you get one bite, two or several. But if you're in the mall, it's worth stopping by for a free treat.

Want a treat that's a little heathier? How about free Quaker rice treats? Visit Quaker's Web site and you can get a free sample of the Chocolatey drizzle flavor or cheddar cheese. I've tried the chocolate version before and I think they're suprisingly tasty.

If you're still working on your taxes, H&R Block wants to help. Today, April 7 only, the company is offering to answer your questions for free. The deal is not available in stores. You have to call 877-HRBLOCK or email taxtalk@hrblock.com to ask a qualified tax professional your last-minute tax questions.

In a news release, H&R Block said they will help taxpayers navigate issues like cancelled debt, the first-time homebuyer credit, penalties for early withdrawals from pension plans and other pressing issues. Experts are available until 11:59 p.m. CDT. Again, this is Tuesday, April 7 only. There's nothing about this on the company's Web site.

If you have a child in diapers, I've found two freebies for you. Both are for free samples of diapers. Huggies will send you a free sample with three of its pure and natural diapers. And GoodNites is offering a free sample of its GoodNites Boxers. If you read this column often, there was a free sample offer on the GoodNites boxers on Walmart's Web site last week, this is the same product, but a different offer.

A Web site called PlanningFamily.com is offering new parents or parents-to-be several different freebies ranging from free magazines to free samples and coupons. As always, never give out a real birthday, even for baby. Give out a date a week off or so. For the parent, give out a birthday that is a year and a day or two off. Also consider not giving your real phone number. These companies don't need to call you. I used 303-555-1212.

And one more free food deal. Denny's was so pleased with all the people who took advantage of its free Grand Slam breakfast offer last month that tomorrow it's offering a BOGO of sorts at breakfast. But one Grand Slam breakfast at Denny's and get a free Grand Slamwich. The offer is good only on Wednesday, April 8 from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.

If you see a deal, let me know! E-mail me Deb Stanley (Deb_Stanley@kmgh.com).
