Debbie's Deals: Sunday Newspaper Coupons Available Online
I love the Sunday newspaper because I enjoy reading the travel section and cutting the coupons. This week I cut more than a dozen coupons out.I also noticed that if you look closely at the coupon circulars in the Denver Post, there are logos for two Web sites: Red Plum and Smart Source. I went to each Web site to see what I would find.At Smart Source, you can look through several pages of coupons right on the front page. Several of the coupons were the same ones I cut out of the newspaper this last weekend, some were different. The small print on the Web site reminds you to have your printer turned on and plenty of paper ready to print your coupons. You may also have to install the program Active X to print the coupons. Other than installing Active X, looking at the coupons on the internet took about the same amount time as looking at the coupons in the Sunday paper.
Smart Source has a bar at the top listing printable coupons, local grocery deals and online deals. The printable coupons were on the front page so I didn't have to click that. I also checked out "local grocery deals." It's a list of what's on sale at several stores in my zip code. If you have the time, this may help you decide what store to shop at. Personally, that takes too much time. If something is on sale when I get to the store I shop at, great. If it's too expensive when I go to the store, I just don't buy it.There's also a button called "online deals." There I found a variety of discount offers for Web sites like Old Navy, Newport News, Gap and 1-800-Flowers. If you shop on the Web, this page is worth a glance.I also checked out Red Plum's Web site. Right on the front page I found a coupon for 20 percent off at Payless shoes. But after that, I found it difficult to find the same coupons I get in my Sunday newspaper. I tried clicking "grocery and drug". There I found a few of the same coupons, but not many.So bottom line? Keep your Sunday newspaper subscription. If you find a coupon Sunday you'd like to have more of, visit the Web site that created the circular and see if you can find the coupon there and print a few copies.By the way, think coupons are a waste of time? I saved more than $20 last week by using the coupons from the Sunday newspaper and some coupons Safeway sent me in the mail. Safeway sent me coupons for $2 off a block of cheese that cost $1.99 and 75 cents off a head of lettuce that cost $1.15. Some good deals. If you see a deal, let me know!
